A Cross-Mode Universal Digital Pre-Distortion Technology for Low-Sidelobe Active Antenna Arrays in 5G and Satellite Communications

A cross-mode universal digital pre-distortion (CMUDPD) technology is proposed here to linearize low-sidelobe active antenna arrays with non-uniform fixed power levels for each branch, which are desired in satellite communications stringent requirements minimize interference. In formed by nonuniform amplitude excitation, conventional (DPD) techniques require multiple feedback paths either one-to-one or average linearization of the PAs, increases system complexity and infeasible large-scale arrays. This because amplifiers (PAs) usually operate different modes where supply voltages, bias input different. The CMUDPD method aims at solving this issue intentionally arranging PAs work but shared nonlinear characteristics. Based on correlation established among PAs’ operating modes, a single path sufficient capture common nonlinearity all determine parameters module. concept explained theory validated simulations experiments using GaN three significantly output two orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) signal bandwidths.
